If you’re looking for a gift for that special fisherman then you can’t go wrong with this little scale from Dr. Meter. It performs just as well as high-end brands and it’s portability makes it a great fishing companion on any fishing trip. This is a digital scale with a metal hand strap so you can hold it upright. It is powered by 2 AAA batteries which are included with your purchase. As an added bonus, this scale also comes with a tape measure so you can measure the fish as well as weigh it. The scale has a blue lit LCD that makes for easy viewing during night time fishing. It can measure weight in g, kg, lb or oz.
It can also weigh fish while they are in nets by setting the ‘tare’ weight beforehand. It also has a screen lock which activates after 2 seconds to record the weight. Berkley Fishing Gloves Review
Even if you don’t usually wear gloves while fishing it’s always good to have a pair on standby in case you reel in a catfish and want to protect yourself from the spines! Our next fishing gift recommendation is an affordable pair of fishing gloves from Berkley.
With nylon at the top and rubber on the palms and fingers, they provide a textured grip in order for you to firmly grasp slippery fish. They are suitable for gripping small to medium fish but are not recommended for anything larger. While the Berkley fishing gloves are fairly flexible, they are more geared toward heavy duty use and protection making the some of the best fishing gloves to give as a gift.
The top of the glove isn’t waterproof so you may end up with wet hands after a while. This also means that the gloves will be difficult to get back on again when wet. The fit on these gloves does run rather small but they stretch out over time. If they feel a bit tight, it is because they are designed to sit close to the skin so that they won’t slip off.
If you are looking for a last minute gift, you really can’t go wrong with a pair of these fishing gloves. They are useful when dealing with any spiny fish and offer great value for money.
Pros
- Protection from spines
- Textured grip for slippery fish
- Great price
Cons
- Top isn’t waterproof
- Size runs small
- Not for gripping large fish
Fishing’s Best Microfibre Towel (Pack of 3) Review
How many fishing friends do you have who just use the same old grimy towel over and over or are losing them all the time? Bait Towel’s microfibre towel set is here to help. It’s an ideal size for a bait towel at 16” x 16” as with these types of towels you don’t want them to be too big.
They come with a carabiner clip that can be attached to a belt or bag with ease. The towel itself has a metal eyelet to prevent tearing. While not the sturdiest of clips, it definitely does the job of holding the towel in place.
This towel is very absorbent due to its microfibre make and is also antimicrobial. It removes fish slime and blood easily. It also machine washable and dries very quickly. As good as these towels wash up, we really appreciate them coming in a set of three so that you do not have to be worrying about doing a load of wash before heading out to fish.
Lastly, these bait towels come in nine different colors so you are sure to find one that works with your preferences.
Pros
- Ideal size (16” x 16”)
- Carabiner clip and metal eyelet
- Absorbent and antimicrobial
Cons
- Not for large amounts of water
